We're truly saddened to learn about the passing of our good friend and Oroko Radio Resident, Ishmael Abbey, aka DJ Katapila. A true Ghanaian music pioneer whose spirit will always stay with us. Our thoughts are with his family.

"Ishmael Abbey (aka DJ Katapila) passed away unexpectedly on 21 January 2024 from a brief illness, leaving behind a loving family including four children. He was loved by many all over the world, especially in his hometown Accra, Ghana. Katapila's lifelong tireless work DJing and emceeing parties and funerals, along with his original music, made him a legend."
