STRANDS & STRUCTURES - Interview Soundscape

With Wild Moon & Iamkaptin

STRANDS & STRUCTURES is a photo-documentary exhibition by creative directors Asia Clarke and Christian Saint. STRANDS & STRUCTURES examines how we connect our hair and bodies to Accra’s Anthropocene. The “Anthropocene” is a term that refers to our current time and place, where human activities have a large impact on the earth’s landscapes and ecosystems.

In STRANDS & STRUCTURES, we use the multi-functional storytelling capability of the African hair aesthetic to explore our place in structural, economic, and environmental issues. The African hair aesthetic is one that is dynamic and evolving. Similarly, Accra’s Anthropocene is brimming with liveliness. Through the exploration of six key areas of focus: AIR POLLUTION, WATER POLLUTION, TRANSPORTATION, ENERGY, CONSTRUCTION and MARKET ECONOMY, we have created a series of impactful images with the intention to connect us to the lived reality of Accra.

This soundscape was developed in collaboration with journalist Brian Osudu-Konadu, Sound engineer Eugene "ATOWN TSB" Okpoti, guitarist Joshua "MOSZI" Nkansah, and creative directors Asia Clarke and Christian Saint.

STRANDS & STRUCTURES photo-documentary exhibition opens at The Mix Design Hub Gallery from Jan 5 2024 - Jan 19 2024. To learn more about the project visit www.asiaclarke.com.
